Radio.  The truck tour gave the students of Blair Elementary a first hand experience of a day in the life of an over the road truck driver.

WILMINGTON - MCO Transport, Inc. is pleased to announce the 2007 MCO D.R.I.V.E. Club Inductees. Entrance to the MCO D.R.I.V.E. Club is earned when an employee has 4 incident free quarters. At a luncheon held February 18, 2008 in Wilmington, NC; inductees were honored with an exclusive MCO D.R.I.V.E. Jacket, a plaque commemorating the achievement and a Garmin GPS unit. Additionally, each inductee was eligible for the annual MCO D.R.I.V.E. Club drawing with a grand prize valued at $5000 and 2 runners up prizes valued at $2500 and $1250. Each inductee should be proud of their accomplishment. Congratulations.

]]> MCO Donates it Services for Liberia Relief http://www.mcoemployeecorner.com/Blog/show/id/32 http://www.mcoemployeecorner.com/Blog/show/id/32#comments Fri, 28 Dec 2007 08:29:53 +0000 WILMINGTON - MCO Transport donated its services to the Wrightsboro Methodist Church this past week, transporting a 40 foot ocean container from Wilmington to the state port in Charleston, SC.  

 

The container, fully loaded with 65,000 meals along with various donated items such as computers, clothing and tools was loaded on the vessel Troense Maersk destine for Monrovia, Liberia. From there it will be delivered to the missionary Frido Kinkolenge, who takes children of war-torn Liberia under his wing giving them hope through education.

 

"Most of all, Frido needed food", explained Revered Bill Haddock of the Wrightsboro Methodist Church. "Children are eating roots, tree leaves, and sometimes dirt in order to survive".  

 

The church linked with the Raleigh-based nonprofit group StopHungerNow to produce the 65,000 meals. 270 volunteers showed up on December 2nd to assemble the 65,000 meal into sealed pouches. Each child is allotted only one meal a day.    

 

The container, marked JOHN 1718, made the 360 roundtrip trek to Charleston on December 20th powered by an MCO driver using a company owned tractor and chassis. MCO is honored to have been part of such an important cause.

 

]]> MCO Announces Major Pay Upgrades http://www.mcoemployeecorner.com/Blog/show/id/31 http://www.mcoemployeecorner.com/Blog/show/id/31#comments Thu, 05 Jul 2007 13:01:52 +0000 WILMINGTON, NC-  MCO Transport, Inc. announces major company driver and contractor pay upgrades to take effect July 6, 2007. The new plan was announced July 1st, at a cookout held at the company's home terminal in Wilmington.

 

"We have increased our pay anywhere from 3% to 30%." explained Ryan Andresen, Vice President of Operations. "Our ultimate goal is to provide our drivers with excellent earning potential and a quality of life not found at typical trucking companies". Some areas changed includes per diem pay for domestic OTR drivers, increased mileage and hourly wages.  

 

Also announced at Sunday's event was a complete revamping of the company's safety and incentive program. "It is our goal to reward safe behavior through recognition and incentives", explained Bill Etheridge, Safety Director. The highlight of the program includes quarterly safety awards and an end of the year drawing with prizes exceeding $5000 in value.
